The Principle of Anti-Sound
Sound travels in waves, comprising peaks and valleys. ANC headphones rely on a concept called Destructive Interference.
- Microphone: A tiny mic on the ear cup listens to outside noise (e.g., the plane engine).
- Processor: The chip inside analyzes the sound wave’s frequency and amplitude.
- Anti-Wave: The speaker creates a new sound wave that is the exact inverse (180 degrees out of phase) of the noise.
